1994 Buick Lesabre engine shakes

When I crank up my car the engine shakes and taps really loudly. also, when I put the car in gear it immediately shuts off.

Hi:
My first concern is the tapping. Is the sound coming from the top of the engine (valve covers)? Also, is the oil clean and full?

Also, has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure?
