when first starting engine. i have a rough idol & can smell gas, also blue or white smoke. after a few minutes everything goes back to normal and engine runs fine

You should perform a compression test, at the very least. You have your gas mixing with oil. That the smoke you see and the gas smell. You should also check the fuel pressure at the rail, just to make sure the fuel pressure regulator is holding the correct pressure.
