Steering problem
1988 Buick Lesabre 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello, the previous year I let my friend use my car to go to the gas station, he said the steering suddenly just went out. I had it towed to my house because it was un-drivable. I had a few people look at it, and everyone says its a busted CV joint, I'm trying to get it fixed but I don't know exactly what I need to buy, I don't want to take it to a repair shop just yet, although I know I don't have the required tools to install the parts.

Just wondering if you could point me to what items I should buy, just not sure what to get.

thanks!

O.K.
The CV joint will have no effect on steering only moving. Does car go into gear and move? is steering difficult if not impossible to turn?

When I start the car it seems fine. Then when I put it into gear it makes a horrible clunking/rattling sound, so far I've been afraid to try and move it encase it destroys something else, should I try and move it?
