Engine Performance problem
1985 Buick Lesabre 6 cyl

gentleman: 85' Buick 4.1L 252 v-6. HEI distributor. I bought book for info and on timing it says: look on label under hood for timing info. This engine is in an airboat. What are the degrees of timing for this motor? And is that with the vacuum line disconnected or plugged? Thanks for the torque sequence I reguested the other day with torque specs. Don

Hi Don

I just want to make sure we are talking about the same vehicle model and engine. I apologize, but for a 1985 Buick Le Sabre 6 cylinder, I don't show a 4.1L.

The only engine I show in a 6 cylinder is the 3.8L and it does have the HEI distributor.

This is the information I have on it...........

Adjustments
Notes

Always follow the Emission Control Information Label procedures when adjusting timing.

Set timing at low idle and Before Top Dead Center, unless otherwise specified. Disconnect and plug distributor vacuum hose at distributor.
1981-90 all carburetted with C-3 System, disconnect 4-wire connector at distributor. If "Check Engine" light comes on during procedure, remove ECM fuse to clear.
1982-86 1.8L (112) FI, 2.5L (151) engines, ground diagnostic connector.
1983-86 2.0L (122) FI, 2.8L (173) FI, disconnect EST bypass connector (tan/black wire).
All W/O distributor not adjustable.
