1989 Buick Electra Wont Start

I cant crank my car...it will not even allow me to turn the ignition over. And if I get it to turn it does not crank or do anything. It was suggested to look at the starter or the ignition switch, but they also said they should not go out around the same time. What do I do?

Check the brake switch, shift interlock control system and also the ignition switch start here.
