when putting the gear back 4 the ignition rod i forgot where a part went now when i seen if it would start i got battery but it wont click starter over .i didnt put lock plate on yet.would that make it not work do i need the rest of put back on first

there is a rod that goes from the ignition lock that you replaced to the starter switch. It probably isn't connected and needs to be. The nuetral switch is operated byt eh selector lever and it's at the bottom of the steering column under the dash.......
