My check engine light came on and, as I tried to accelerate - it seemed to not "catch". The code that showed up was P0300. They thought maybe we had bad gas so we put fuel stuff in gas tank. We drove it many many miles like this (from Indiana to Charleston, S.C.) - It would not accelerate over 35 mph when doing the mountain area. What might be the problem?

Second question - the gas tank dial is not accurate so I have to watch my miles to know when I need gas. What will it take to fix this and approx. Cost?

DTC P0300 indicates Engine Misfire Detected

You will need to inspect your vehicle's spark plugs and wires to ensure they are getting healthy spark. If OK, test fuel injectors to ensure each cylinder is receiving proper fuel supply.

For the fuel gauge, what do you mean by it is not accurate? Does the gauge operate at all?

My gas gauge is not accurate at all. It will appear to have much more gas then it does.

Suspect faulty fuel sending unit for this problem. Approx. Cost is around 1.5 labor hours ($110) plus cost of part.
