Electrical problem
2001 Buick Century 98,000 miles

My brother has a 2001 Buick Century which will not start. The key is the original and has been tested. It is fine. His mechanic told him to buy a 3.0 ohm resistor and he can bypass something to find what part is not working. We do nt know what kind of resistor he is talking about nor do we know what part he is trying to bypass. can you make any sense of this?
