every time I press the trunk release button inside the glove box all I get is a single click--the same thing happens when I press the remote trunk realease button--I've changed fuses and trunk acutuator with no luck

Did you use a voltage tester at the connector for the trunk release mechanism? Is the fuse circuit hot? You can also check the voltage circuits at the relay.
