Electrical problem
2000 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic Unknow miles

A while ago, my odometer and gear display quit working. I've tried shining a flashlight on it (so has a lot of other people), but it's a no-go. My question is, would replacing the whole guage cluster, either brand new or used, fix the problem? Or do I have to take my car to the dealer?

Instrument panel circuit is a complex and complicated issue. While I myself am leaning towards faulty cluster, simply replacing the gauge cluster will not generally fix the problem if the problem is in the circuitry or the body control module, powertrain control module, or the vehicle speed sensor.

I would suggest that you go back to the dealership for proper diagnostic, as they have the proper scan tool for the body control module and instrument panel cluster DTC.
