I was able to diagnosis that I had a misfire on the third cyclinder. What could be the problem and what can I do to correct it.

You may just need a tune up .I'd start with the spark plugs . Then I would inspect the plug wires for burns .Other possibilities are coil (If equipped)and 02 sensor . Go to your local auto parts store and have them put it on a scanner . It's usually free of charge .
