I took my car in to repair leak in cooling system. Mechanic said water pump was leaking and replaced that. Then he told me I needed to replace the manifold gasket so coolant wouldn't get into the engine and mess things up. What is an average ballpark figure for this kind of repair?

that would depend on which manifold but im assuming you mean the intake manifold.. it will take approx. 6 labor hours to replace it which adds up to around $450 at most experienced shops.

if its a 3.1 or a 3.4 if your going to have the lower intake gasket changed, might as well do the head gaskets.... there are bulletins on these engines where the headgaskets rot out.... spend some extra now, save alot in the long run.... ive seen it happen, thats why im suggesting it.
