When you first start the car and put into drive, it will try to cut out, spit and sputter until engine is warmed up. What can cause this problem?

There are many things that might cause it. How long since a tune-up? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Are there any trouble codes? Some of the national brand autostores used to check codes for free, also, they used to loan out a fuel pressure gage. I just wanted add, if idle issue, clean the throttle-body and check iac.
