My engine has one valve tappet that is very noisey when cold but quiets after warm up. Years ago we used to put 2 qts kerosene mixed with 2 qts of oil and ran the engine for 10 minutes and then drained. Then we put fresh oil in and this worked to clean up the engine. Will this quiet the noisey lifter? Is this still good practice on today's engines????
