1998 Buick Century grinding noise

1998 Buick Century 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 145k miles

im getting ready to take my car off to college and for the past month or 2 ive been hearing a grinding noise coming from the belt area, its kinda like a grinding/ "tinging"/ rattling sound. it comes and goes, and its been getting worse. im thinking about bringing it to a shop but im not sure what i should be looking out for. maybe theres even a quick fix for it so i wont have to =)


can anyone please help????

By description, it sound like the A/C clutch hub assy.

You can narrow the noise down by taking a stethescope and touching the housings of each pulley, listening for the offending one. A long bad or screwdriver can work as a stethescope, by plaing you ear on the handle and the point to the housings.
