I turned the key in the ignition and all I got was a clicking sound. Radio, lights, etc worked but car would not start. I tried jumper cables but car still would not start. I am thinking an alternator or starter problem. Am I on the right path?

I'd still have to make sure the battery has a full charge and battery connections, coming and going, are clean and tight on all ends. The purple wire at the starter solenois S terminal should be hot with key in the crank position. I haven't checked about your security system, where applicable. If you have any questions about the wiring, holler.
