1997 Buick Century temp sensor

my 1997 buick century has some type of pronlem with the water temp sensor that i can not find out. I intalled new water temp sensor but the fan will not work when the car engine gets hot, only when I unplug the the sensor.

OK
is the engine overheating
and the fans aren’t coming on
do you have check engine light on
what do you have for codes
get codes if check engine light on
