The check engine light has been on constantly for about two weeks. The car performs well except that there is a little hesitation and sputter when I accellerate on the highway to pass someone. The PCV valve has never been replaced. Could this be the problem and is it a part that I can replace myself? If so, where is it located and do you have instructions? Air filters & oil are all current.

Hi:
If I had to guess, I would say the PCV is not the problem. What I recommend is to have the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store. If the check engine light is on, the computer has recognized a problem. Therefore, a scan should identify the problem. NOTE: Most of the parts stores will scan it for free.
