Electrical problem
1996 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi

I hit a bump the other night and my 96 Buick Century's engine died. It seems I do not have power to my gauges, my radio, and the engine will not even attempt to turn over no clicks nothing just dead silence when I turnthe key. I have checked the fuses in the fuse box in the glove box they all appear undamaged and fine. Any idea whats going on and can I fix it myself?

Follow your positive battery cable, check for voltage at various points. Also, check grounds.

We can also check feed to and from the ignition switch. The red wires are feed to the switch, hot all the time. The wires off the bottom of switch go hot with the key in run or start or both.

It's hard to do any testing without at least a digital multimeter and a testlite.
