Hello,

The MAF sensor of my car Censtury Estate Wagon 88
is being destroyed within 5 to 10 minutes.

The "Master of US car repairing" here in germany told me they would need to destroy 10 to 14 MAF sensors to determine the cause of their destruction.

That is just mad! How can I find out what is killing those sensors without having to sacrifice more than a dozend of them.

Please help me to save my car.

Hmm. And maybe a few dozen more trying to fix whatever's wrong. I'm not a real mechanic, let alone "master of car repairing, " U.S. Or otherwise. But.

I believe this is the type of MAF that monitors air flow by its cooling effect on what amounts to a tiny heater. Decreased temperature increases voltage through a thermisor. Now it would seem to me most likely that it's pulling too much amperage somehow and burning out, maybe because of a short in the voltage supply wiring. I would think attrition could be limited to an autopsy of just one to find this out. Tracking down a short in the circuit could be the real quest.
