The glove box latch handle on my car broke. As a result, I am unable to open the glove box. Any suggestions on how to get the glove box open?

Yes, remove the lower hinge screws and work the door away from the box. Also, can you look inside of the broken part and grab it with needle nose pliers can you upload an image of the problem?

Cheers, Ken

Thanks, Ken, I thought I uploaded photos. I guess they did not take. I will try again. In the meantime, I will see if I can locate the hinge screws as well as look inside the broken part for anything grabbable.
Best regards, Bic

Thanks for the pictures, it looks like you should be able to reach in with a small standard screw driver and work the latch to get the box open. On a side note why did you think the images did not upload?

You are welcome. Thanks for the advice.
There are small openings on either side of the latch where I am able to insert a screwdriver, but so far no luck in getting the box open. With regards to the failed photo upload, I believe it was due to the size of the file. I forgot to resize the photos after I exported them from my camera.

Thanks for the update. Did you have any luck remove the pivot mounting screws at the bottom of the glove box door?

You are welcome. We have had driving rainstorms here the last couple of days, as soon as the weather clears up I am going to take a look at the screws.

The box is finally open. I was in the process of looking at the hinge screws when I noticed the pin (where the handle was originally attached and where the broken springs now hung) was slightly bent. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull out the pin. Once the pin was pulled out the metal piece that was holding the door closed swung down, and I was able to work the door away from the box. Thank you for all your help. It is very much appreciated.
