Breaking fault

When starting the car sometimes is says braking fault and the electronic hand break does not work, other times it works fine, then it just goes off again

What happens is the switch that control the system gets dirty or corroded which makes the unit act the way you have described, you will need to replace the switch which should take care of the problem.
