Hi,
Chances are the brake light switch failed. That would prevent the brake lights from working and the park interlock system from operating.
Under the dash on the driver's side and mounted to the brake pedal bracket is the switch/ Pic 1 shows what it looks like off the vehicle, and pic two shows its location. First make sure it is still connected.
Next, check fuse 52 in the under-hood fuse box. Make sure the fuse is good and there is power to and from it. Here is a link you may find helpful.

If that checks good, go to the switch. Check the white wire with a green tracer to see if power is present. If it is, then confirm the switch is being fully opened when the pedal is depressed. If it is, check for an output power on the green wire with a white tracer. If there is no power when the pedal is depressed, replace the switch.
Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.,
Take care,
joe
