Hi,
Front brake pads commonly last approximately 25,000 miles. That can vary based on terrain and driving habits. As far as replacement, they are easy to do and can save you money if you do it yourself.

Also, here is a video showing the procedure being done on a Chevrolet Cavalier. Although it is a different model, the procedure is very similar.
