When swapping Mustang spindles onto an early Mercury Comet, the tie rod ends can be a little tricky because the steering arm taper and steering linkage need to be compatible.
The good news is that this conversion has been done before, and compatible steering components are available.
There are a couple of things I need to know before recommending the correct tie rod ends.
Are the 1965 Mustang spindles from a six-cylinder or V8 Mustang?
Does your Comet have power steering or manual steering?
Are you retaining the original Comet center link, pitman arm, and idler arm?
These details are important because the V8 Mustang steering components differ from the six-cylinder versions, and power steering can also affect the tie rod ends and adjusting sleeves.
If you're using 1965 Mustang V8 spindles, there are conversion components available from suppliers such as MustangSteve and Falcon Parts.
Here is a conversion kit for reference:

Also, could you upload a picture of the spindle steering arm and your existing tie rod assembly? That would help us identify what you're working with.
Once we know which spindles and steering linkage you have, we can narrow down the correct parts without guessing.
Let me know what you find.
