How old are the pads? There is usually a warning tab on the pad that will begin touching the rotor when the pads get close to needing replaced.

Just to add to this one what kind brand etc pads were they? We're they the cheapest pads you could find? The cheaper the pad the quicker the pads wear out and the noisier they will be .So did you see if the pads were worn out?

Alright the cheapest pads wear faster usually they crack also plus they make a lot more noise while stopping. That's why I use the premium pads on my car and when ever I do brake jobs for people.I personally use centric possi quite brake pads.I use to use the on the police cars and police suvs they worked great.

First thing you need to do is check the brakes where the noise is coming from.

You could get some Emery cloth sand paper and lightly sand the rear shoes shoes to take the glaze off them. Then San the inside of the drum and clean everything up with brake cleaner.

If you only hear the noise in the rear while braking then the noise is in the shoes /drum somewhere. You can't hear that bad wheel bearing while driving?
