Hi,

If the brakes are slightly dragging, they will heat up as driving. As a result, the brake fluid heats up and expands and can cause the brakes to apply a bit. After driving it, do you ever notice if the brakes smell hot or is there excessive heat coming off one or more of the wheels?

Let me know. As far as air in the system, that will usually cause a lower brake pedal.

Let me know if you ever noticed a smell or heat radiating from the wheel. Or, after driving it, lift one wheel at a time to see if you can turn it.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care and God bless.

Thank you for your response. l will check and next time. l want to tell you a little more at what's happening. l own a couple of Ford e series cargo vans ,one is a 1998 and the other is a 20o4. both have and brakes on them. my van use to run great until l did the brakes not knowing anything about the ABS system.but ever since they both run about the same way .the 04a bit better than the other.the 04 brakes just barely com on as l am driving and when l step on the brake pedal just slightly it seems to release a bit and then to the same thing.it only seems to happen at 40 mi an HR +. Now the other van runs fine until hits overdrive ,then it seems like the brakes start to come on and van starts to act out by nothing and the motor start to shake, and yes the brakes got smoking hot. I just don't know what to do. Please help me understand what to next. l greatly appreciate any good advice sincerely!

Hi,

Is the ABS light staying on? Also, here is what I want you to try: Safely lift the wheel that was smoking from the ground and apply the brakes. Can you turn the wheel when the brake is released? If not, open the bleeder on the brake caliper and then see if you can turn the wheel.

Let me know the results.
