Had the vehicle at the dealer for periodic inspection and they told me I had to replace rusty brake lines in the front section around the firewall (both sides). Are these lines hard to get to without dismantling too much? Some say I may have to remove the front cross member to get to them. If so that is a very big deal. If the cross member has to be removed I would assume that there is a bunch of components associated with it that has to be detached as well (ABS controller, steering rack etc.). And it needs to go back to the exact same position as it was using scribes/marks as a reference.

The best thing to do is have a mechanic look at it and give you an estimate and answer your questions if anything has to be removed, because normally repair manuals do not list either repair procedures for brake lines and/or labor hours for brake lines.
I looked and could not find either.
Also, I tried to even find maybe a diagram showing the routing and could not find it or even the brake lines themselves as far as parts for sale go.
I do know nowadays they do sell flexible steel tubing that can be bent rather easily and installed by running it through hard to get through spots then bent afterward to fit the fittings, etc.
Remove the old could be as easy as just cutting the lines.
