Brake light switch

I need to replace the the brake light switch in my car. I have removed the old switch but I had a really hard time doing it. I'm hoping that you have some helpful hints on how to put the new switch in without so much trouble.

we have no pics of this but it shold just be put on to pedal bracket, then the clip put he large hole on bracket piece squeeze together, and push so it locks in place. put electrical connector back on.
