I started my car this morning and the brake light on the dashboard stayed on. What are the possible issues and what are the solutions?

Hi,

If it is only the brake light and not the ABS, first, check to make sure the brake fluid in the master cylinder is full.

When you open the hood, the brake master cylinder is on the driver's side of the firewall. See pic below.

Also, check to make sure the parking brake is fully released.

Check this first and let me know what you find.

Joe

Thank you for your response. It was the brake fluid, like you said.

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get low again. That could indicate a leak. On the other hand, it is normal as brakes wear for the fluid to get lower in the reservoir. Regardless, keep an eye on it.

Take care and feel free to come back anytime in the future.
