You need to describe the symptoms differently. "Nothing happens" can mean a dozen different things. The brake pedal will not move. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and the car keeps moving. The brake pedal feels normal but the car does not slow down.

The pedal still goes to the floor like normal, but there is no brake so have to use the gears an hand brake to stop.

it sounds like a major fluid leak to me or a at least a master cylinder failure.

Yup. Pedal going to the floor is not normal. Are you losing brake fluid from the reservoir?
