Brake cleaner

I do not know what the chemical composition of lacquer thinners is and how compatible it may be, I can only think that you do a lot of spray painting and have this product at hand. Aerosol cans of designated brake clean are cheap and designed for this purpose, the solvents in thinners may not be compatible and may cause issues with pad surface structure and the ability to release dust and also friction problems, and it may not be compatible with rubber products. I would recommend getting a dedicated product to do the cleaning, this way you are assured of not having a problem.
