Hello,

I tried changing my brake pads for my car myself. Was able to complete the front brake pads without a problem. When I tried changing my rear brake pads, I couldn't compress the piston back into the caliper so I had to get my car towed to the dealership where I bought my car. The mechanic called me because he told me when he finished the brake change the brake pedal was loose and my brakes aren't working. The head tech ended up saying I need to buy a new brake caliper and a new motor for the brake caliper for $850.00. Not sure what a motor for a brake caliper was so when I asked he said it was because I have an electronic e brake. Just wanted to know if this is true or if the are trying to take some money.

Hello,

This vehicle does have electronic parking brake. So when you push the lever/switch for the parking brake the motor activates and presses the pads.
While replacing the pads if the motor does not get disconnected, it could get damaged during the install.

I have attached the brake pad replacement procedure including the parking brake function for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
