Brake Booster installation

I have a brake booster that has failed me oh, and the question I'm asking is simple. Will I be able to replace the booster without having to bleed the brake system? I've already traced all the vacuum lines to ensure that I didn't have a leak somewhere else, because I just changed the throttle cable. I was hoping when I change the throttle cable, I have not something else too loose. I wasn't that lucky. The last question I asked was answered rather quickly, and it was very helpful.

That depends on which brake lines yours has on it. The later trucks had flex lines that give you enough room to remove the master cylinder without touching the lines. If you have those lines then it's easy to do, if it has the hard steel lines it might move enough but it's doubtful to do it without damaging a line.

Take a look at YouTube for Buddys DIY - Chevy Blazer / S10 Brake Booster Replacement for the process on a 02 which is the same as yours.

If you end up removing the lines just plug the lines so the fluid cannot leak out and bleed them when you are finished.

Hello,

I wanted to jump on and add a little more info on top of what Steve has posted.

As long as you don't have to remove the brake lines you do not have to bleed the system. However, I'm not sure there will be enough space without removing the brake lines from the master cylinder. As the master cylinder gets removed along with the lines when replacing the brake booster.

I have attached the brake booster replacement procedure below.
