I was wondering if I could take a driver side fender off another Impala and put it on my car? Like can I take one off a different year, will it fit and be the same?

There is two ways to figure this out. The easiest is to visit any salvage yard and ask there. They have very expensive "Hollander" Guides for this. First you look up your car model and year, then the part. It will list a code number for that part. Next you look up that code number in the back of the book and it will list every year and model that uses that part. This works best when you are going too search for the right donor cars.

When you already have a potential donor car in mind, a good way is to look up the part on an auto parts web site for both cars to see if they list the same part number for each one. I use the Rock Auto site a lot for reference.

The problem with either method is there can be variations that can confuse the issue. A good example is hoods. There might be four or five different styles. Some have vents. Some have hood scoops. Some are part of a special trim package. Naturally all of those will have a different part number, but they will all fit on the same vehicle. It is up to you to figure out those differences.
