engine check engine light came on for a short period. After engine was shut down it did not come back on for a couple of days. Checked gas cap and its o/k and it just passed smog inspection (califoria car) fine. I wanted to know if there is a air filter on this car, where it is located and if possibly this could be the problem? Thanks for any help.

At the end of this tube in the filter box, and if it hasnt been done in 58,000 miles, it is possible the MAF is VERY dirty, but the sure way to know is plug it into code reader, and post the results.

Without knowing why the check engine light was on there is nothing that would say the air filter is at fault. Most of the big auto parts stores will scan the car for faults for free. Get that done and let me know what you find before we continue. ♥
