Hello,
The top on my 1998 Z3 has started to randomly not raise or lower when i am holding the switch. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it happens but the times it does work the motor seems to works smoothly and quietly and the top moves at a normal speed. Is it most likely a short in the switch?

It would be worh starting with, one question though, does the switch feel like it is "clicking" in each position. If not, replace the switch, or at least compare it's "feel" to a new one.
