1998 BMW Z3 dash board lights

I had to replace the shifter. When doing so I had to cut and splice 2 wires that ran inside the shifter that lit up the gear patterns. Now I have no dash board lights? My car is the M roadster

Have you checked the fuses, the smaller amperage fuses need to be inspected with your glasses on.
