The locking mechanism on the trunk lid has ceased working. The car is equipped with a remote locking system, and the door locks still work when the remote lock/unlock button is pressed. The trunk latch does not click shut when the trunk lid is slammed (gently, of course) shut. As a novice car repair person, is this something I can diagnose/repair myself, or do I need professional help?

This should be a fairly simple repair and I encourage you to attempt it if you have the tools. It seems as if the trunk lock mechanism is faulty and will require replacement and the part# is 51-24-1-973-194
