2005 BMW X5 Single CD player

My 05 BMW X5 has a navigation/cassette player (previous owner put an 04 version in place of the 05 standard navigation/single CD player. My questions is: Is the single CD player part of the navigation system or can I purchase it separately and have it installed in place of the cassette player w/o having to replace the navigation computer??

No, and even if you could retrofit a CD player, why not try and get a CD changer installed and retain the use of your cassette. It would depend on the level of equipment of the vehicle.
