2004 BMW X5 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 100k miles

I have a 2004 with 105k. I complete all service Inspection 1 and Inspection 2 with the bmw dealer. What type of maintenance do i need to prevent high service costs? Do i need to replace the water pump, or timing chain? Other than change the oil, any other suggestions? Is there anything i can do myself to prevent future high costs? Should i ask the dealer to replace something that is not included in Inspection I and II?

At that age and mileage I would consider replacement of the water pump and perhaps the transmission fluid and filter. The plastic components in the cooling system may require inspection/replacement at that age/mileage as well. These are items which are not necessary but will add value in as much as replacement at your discretion is distinct from towing the vehicle in when a catastrophic failure occurs.
