I recently purchased a BMW X5 4.4 with 83K miles. When driving for the first 20-30 minutes, it drives like a dream. After that, while driving in the manual position, I can't upshift into 5th gear. It bounces back into 4th. The upshift is late; ie 1st is late at 25mph/2nd at 40mph/3rd at 65mph and 4th at 85mph. The down shift is early and hard. I took the car for a diagnostic at AAMCO Transmissions and they informed me of 3 fault codes: TPS or Throttle Postion sensor, MAP sensor and Trans Sensor. They advised me that I should replace the TPS and Map Sensor and hope that solves the trans sensor. Of course that doesn't guarantee that anything and worse case scenario it may cost me $4-5K to fix everything. I'm looking for a second opinion. Thanks for your time.

They might be correct and replacement of the MAF and TPS could fix this issue, do they offer anything else to back up their diagnostic? This could also be a software issue and it might be time to seek out someone that is a specialist to put their hands on the car. BMW's are sometimes a bit persnickety.
