2003 BMW X5 AC not working in MAX AC mode

AC is blowing very cold air, however the high fan setting (MAX AC) will not work, nor does cranking it up manually (manual fan setting) work. Prior to the problem, at times it would take 4 to 5 seconds to finally kick in.

Check the blower motor resistor this is the one that controls the fan motor speed thru resistances-
