2002 BMW X5 cv replacement

Picked up after market cv axle s . Repair shop claimed axle would slide right out. Not the case. Do I need to open the case to remove any ring from the end of the axles ? If not , then how do I remove the axles? Thanks if ya can help

It SHOULD come out, but not "just slide right out". It usually takes a little force from a pry tool to get it out. Be sure not to damage any near by components when doing this.
