2001 BMW X5 front differential

My front diff has just started to make a clunking noise and it wants to lock up so it looks like I need a replacement, what I wanted to know was does the 3.0 d front diff fit my 4.4i petrol any advice I would be greatfull of thankyou.

The 3.64 ratio is unique to the V-8 4.4 2001 X5 as is the front differential. The diesel uses a 3.07 ratio and would not be suitable due to that fact alone.

Does anyone know where I can get my diff referbed and how much it will cost I would remove it myself.

A salvage yard is a good place to pick up the hard parts, like a differential. Look on the internet, or Google it.
