I just bouight a K&N reusable filter. The instructions say to instill the filter in the opposite direction than how the original was removed. I do not know if the one I'm replacing was installed correctly so "I'm asking". Thanks.

The filter should be straight forward in the installation, use your common sense and be sure it appears "comfortable" in the installed position. Be very sure you follow the directions if you ever feel you have to clean it, over-oiling is lethal to hot film air mass sensors.
