2004 BMW X3 remote fob not working

i did try programmed it and check fuse but still no way to fix it. also i noticed the red knob mounted on mid-mirror not blinking as well?
so i'm worrying about there more serious malfunctionality somewhere. please help me out.

Have you been to a repair facility with this issue yet? Has the dealer been involved?

Not yet but i'm planning to get there to do initial free check to see wht's going on. my friend who own BMW also suggested that maybe key problem.
