Smells problem
2006 Other BMW Models 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 92000 miles

Hi. I have just bought a BMW 530d Sport, as seen, from an auction and after driving the car for 10 minutes from cold, heavy white clouds are emitted from the exhaust which smell terribly: I cannot identify the smell. The car sounds and drives normally and after a few minutes the white clouds and their smell disappear. I would be very interested in any technical ideas you may have. Thanks.

Diesel engines that emit white smoke are experiencing incomplete combustion, watch any of them during a cold start and they will all do the same thing, white stinky smoke. If it is sweet smelling or does not quit after warm-up, then you can go to the next diagnostic level.
