Engine problem
1999 Other BMW Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 98k miles

my bmw 316 has started to idle slow and is getting worse by the day. it needs alot of acceleratoin when first started and the exhaust fumes are spitting rather than constant. when switching off there is a 2 second hiss/whistle from the engine not the fan belt

Check out the fuse option if they are about to blown then get is replaced .Even you can check the voltage of the battery.may be it will sort of your problem.

this may be due to fuse problem..
but one thing u r telling that it whistles for 2 sec after turning off the engine,,, indicates to many other problems..
can u plz tell us something more about it...
once my car sounded like that and the problem was in bearing,,,,
