my front left suspension is making a loud knocking noise which gets louder going over bumps. A friend told me it may be the bushes but oim not sure. I also have a metal rod which has appeared in the well where the soft top is stored but im not sure where it has come from

The noise from the front end might be the lower control arm bushings, look at the bushings and tell me what you see. The other issue may require some more detail (or a picture!) to get me up to speed.
